Fresh Fruits and Vegetables in Schools

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Fresh FruitI am excited to share an important initiative that will help support the health and well-being of our students throughout the upcoming school year. Thanks to the Nutrition Grant funding provided by Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning, we will be enhancing students’ access to nutritious snacks across all schools in the »ÆÉ«µçÓ°. This initiative ensures every student can access fresh fruit and vegetables, helping them stay energized and ready to learn.

As part of this program, each school will have fresh fruit and vegetables readily available during the school day. This is intended for students needing a healthy snack to help them concentrate and participate fully in their learning. We understand that access to nutritious food is essential for physical and mental well-being, and we are committed to ensuring that no child goes hungry while in our schools.

In addition to this exciting new initiative, we are pleased to continue our long-standing partnership with , a local organization that has been instrumental in supporting families in our community. For the past two decades, Soup’s On has provided bag lunches for children in need, ensuring they receive a nutritious meal during the school day. Their dedication to the well-being of our students has been invaluable, and we are proud to continue working with them as we expand our efforts to promote healthy eating habits across the Division.

We believe that providing nutritious food options will contribute to a supportive learning environment for all students, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this initiative will have on our school communities. We encourage families to contact their school if they have questions or want more information about the Nutrition Grant program.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure the well-being and success of every child in the »ÆÉ«µçÓ°.

Colin Campbell, Assistant Superintendent
