In Manitoba the responsibility for the delivery of public education to students in kindergarten through Grade 12 graduation has been delegated to school boards. Provincial legislation in the form of the Public Schools Act and the Education Administration Act defines the structure, obligations and responsibilities of school boards. The primary function of a school board is to set policy.
School board elections are held every four years in conjunction with municipal elections, on the fourth Wednesday in October.
